On June 18, 2024, Professor Li Jian made a report entitled "Praise Brilliant Achievements, Gather Silver Power - Xue Qikun". Xie Deren, Secretary of the Party Committee of our college, Du Wei, deputy secretary and some teachers and students representatives attended the report. The report was hosted by graduate counselor Zhang Yuchen.

After the presentation began, Professor Li Jian first introduced the personal achievements of Prof. Xue Qikun, an educator. Academician Xue, President of Southern University of Science and Technology and native of Linyi, Shandong Province, is an internationally renowned experimental physicist and the first Chinese recipient of the Buckley Prize, the highest award in the field of condensed matter physics. His childhood and school life were not smooth sailing, and his achievements were inseparable from his strong and hard work. Then introduced Academician Xue's childhood herding life and three times of postgraduate entrance examination failure, and even studying in Japan is full of frustrations, which did not make him give up the pursuit of study and scientific research. With a strong and hard character, unremitting efforts and physical talent, different from ordinary people's tough character, as well as the pursuit of excellence, the pursuit of the ultimate scientific research spirit, he finally walked out of the mountain, on the Barkley podium.

Finally, Mr. Li emphasized that Academician Xue is not only a great scientist but also an excellent educator, who has devoted himself to the education of the motherland after returning from studying in Japan. He pointed out that the pursuit of personal career is inseparable from the strength of the country. He hoped that the students can mind the motherland, look at the world, and bravely shoulder the mission and responsibility entrusted by The Times.

Professor Li Jian's wonderful report made the students gain a lot. The lecture was full of fun, and the audience applauded constantly. After the meeting, it also aroused warm responses from teachers and students present. The students said that from the lecture, they really felt the personality charm of President Xue, the "711 model" of looking up at the stars and the feelings of the family and the country in the era of gratitude. We should carry forward the spirit of the older generation of scientists and contribute our own strength to the prosperity of the country and the rejuvenation of the nation.
